Ezekiel 38-39 The War to Begin the Consummation - pt 1

Thus will I magnify myself, and sanctify myself; and I will be known in the eyes of many nations, and they shall know that I am the LORD..                    Ezekiel 38:23

When will this happen?

Like two bookends, Ezekiel describes the event that will start the prophetic clock ticking and the event that will end with the coming of the Lord.

The first “bookend” is the _____________________________  of Gog-Magog (Ezekiel 38 and 39) and the other bookend is the start of the ______ Millennium ________ (Ezekiel 40-43) that brings the Glory of God to Israel.

Three Time Indicators of These Events – Ezekiel 38:8

I.after many days thou shalt be visited….” - This did not mean in a month or a year. Ezekiel’s first readers would have understood this means a ________________________________ period of time.

visited” always signifies a specific action by God involving His _____________________ in Israel.

II.in the latter years.” This term is defined elsewhere in our English Bible as “last,” “end,” and “hindermost,” conveying a _____________________________ time or event – Deuteronomy 31:29.

A careful contextual study of the Bible indicates that the concept of “latter years/days” often is used in an eschatological sense, speaking of the days just before the coming of the Messianic Age.

Daniel uses equivalent terms “time of the end,” “end of time,” “end time,” and “end of the age” in Daniel 8:17; 12:4, 9, 13. All refer to the time of “distress,” which is the Hebrew word for “tribulation.”

Remember, when the latter days for the __________________________ end, the latter days for

_________________________will begin.

III.it is brought forth out of the nations, and they shall dwell safely all of them” speaks of a time when the Jewish people are  __________________________________ to the land from the nations (plural), not just Babylon.
